Classification Badge

One of the tenets of Rotary is Classifications which is based on your occupation or vocation. Rotary founder Paul P. Harris believed that in order for members to socialize and gather,  it would be necessary to limit occupations.  Additionally, he wanted to ensure that Rotary would enlist the "Best" person in his or her own field.

Every member must hold a distinct Classification and unless the Board of Directors provides, only one member can hold a particular Classification.  The Classification list is not finite and may be added to as deemed necessary.  There is a special consideration where an existing member holding a Classification may add what is known as an "Additional Active" for someone in his or her own company.

The Classification of Law and the Classification of Medical include a multitude of specialties. These are two fields that have a special exception regarding classifications. All of these matters must be brought before the Classification Committee for approval and may require a Board vote after passing the committee.

Members should always be on the lookout for new members who may fill these Classifications or add to our list of ever growing Classifications.
